Sevilla are in talks with Arsenal about a loan move for Belgian midfielder Abert “Sambi” Lakonga.
The 24 year old is back at the Emirates after spending last season on loan with Luton Town. That spell saw his appearances limited by injury, but, when he did manage to get on the pitch, he generally impressed.
However, with the Gunners widely expected to buy another central midfield player this summer, his first-team opportunities under Mikel Arteta are likely to be very limited.
He remains under contract until 2026, but he himself appears reconciled to the fact that his future lies away from North London, admitting in a recent interview that “my time at Arsenal is slowly coming to the end.”
Sevilla, who need to reinforce their midfield options, now look to offer him the opportunity to reignite his career, and there is the possibility that any loan move could include an option to buy, with a potential fee of ₤15 million being discussed.
