The latest striker added to Chelsea’s wish list is Atlético Madrid’s Samu Omorodion.

The 20 year old, who was born in Spain to Nigerian parents spent last season on loan at Alavés, for whom he scored 8 goals in 35 appearances.

Capped by Spain five times at under-21 level, Chelsea have indicated they are willing to pay around ₤37 million for the player, but Atlético regard him as a budding talent and want considerably more for him.

Chelsea recognise the need to bolster their striking options, but recognise the fact that some of their preferred targets like Victor Osimhen, may be out of their reach this summer.

Equally whilst they are considering bidding for former player Dominic Solanke, his release clasue of ₤65 million is regarded as a significant obstacle.

And that means pivoting to cheaper, less proven options like Omorodion.
