Real Madrid want to sigh William Saliba from Arsenal, and are prepared to include Brazilian forward Rodrygo in part exchange in any deal.
Arsenal, though, have no intention of selling the Frenchman, who has formed such an effective partnership with Gariel Magalhaes at the heart of their defence.
The Spanish club recently sent scouts to watch both Saliba and Sergio Romero in the North London derby, but whereas the Argentine was at fault for the Arsenal goal, Saliba turned in another fine performance.
Arsenal, though, have absolutely no intention of letting the Frenchman leave.
Although he signed a new deal with the club last year that ties him to the Emirates to a further year, there is already talk that they intend to sit down with him in the coming months to offer him fresh terms.
And gone are the days when they want or need to sell their best players. The Gunners now want to be considered among the elite in Europe, and will do everything they can to keep the likes of Saliba.
