Having acquired Mikel Merino from Real Sociedad in the summer, Arsenal are now being linked with another Spanish international in the January transfer window in the form of Yeremy Pino.

The 21 year old has previously attracted interest from the likes of Chelsea and Real Madrid, but has remained at Villareal, the club he joined as a teenager, and for whom he has since gone on to make 135 appearances in all competitions.

He has the distinction of being the youngest player ever to have scored a first half hat-trick in a La Liga game.

He can play either as a right-winger or right-sided midfielder, offering the sort of versatility that Mikel Areta values in all the players in his team.

Potentially he can serve as a long-term back-up and competition for Bukayo Saka. Although Raheem Sterling offers much needed cover, he is now 29, and his loan deal with Chelsea does not include an option to buy.

Pino has been capped 13 times by Spain, and has scored twice for the national side.
