Chelsea exploring goalkeeping options

Chelsea are exploring a number of options as their search for a new goalkeeper continues.

Although their long-term target remains Mike Maignan, they are unwilling to pay a fee for the 30-year old French international and would prefer to try and sign him on a free when his contract with AC Milan expires at the end of the season.

One possibility they are currently considering is to sign Marc-Andre ter Stegen on loan for the rest of the season.

Ter Stegen has fallen down the pecking order with the Catalans, who signed Joan García from Espanyol in the last transfer window, and they also have the experienced option of Wojciech Szezsney.

He is likely to have a number of options available to him in January, whilst his wages mean that he will not come cheap. However, he remains a top-class goalkeeper and could provide the experience that a largely young team needs at the back.
