Liverpool forward Diogo Jota is the latest name being linked with a move to Arsenal.
It comes amidst reports that Liverpool manager Arne Slot has become increasingly frustrated with Jota’s frequent absences due to injury.
Jota had begun the season as a guaranteed starter under Slot, but then suffered a rib injury which opened the door for Luis Díaz and Darwin Nuñez to take his place.
Since returning to full fitness, Jota has not started a Premier League game and minor knocks ruled him out if two further matches against Brentford and Ipswich Town.
He was in the starting line-up for the FA Cup tie away at Plymouth Argyle, but none of the Liverpool squad that day covered themselves in glory as the Championship’s bottom-side ended Slot’s dreams of a quadruple.
Given though that he is now 28, Jota does not fit the age profile of the Gunners’ usual recruits, and would have no resale value if they bought him. And given the Gunners own injury record this season, do they need to bring in somebody else who spends so much time in the treatment room?
