Chelsea are preparing a bid to sign Antoine Semenyo from Bournemouth, which could be worth up to ₤42 million.

The 25-year old joined Bournemouth from Bristol City two years ago, in a deal that was worth ₤10 million at the time, signing a four and a half year contract. That now looks like money well spent, as he has since scored 18 goals in 73 appearances for the South Coast side, his most recent strike for them coming from the penalty spot in their Fourth Round FA Cup win at Everton at the weekend.

Semenyo was actually born in Chelsea, but plays for Ghana because his family originally hails from the West African country. He has now got 25 senior international caps, scoring for them twice.

He could be one of the Bournemouth players in demand this summer, with suggestions that Liverpool are also looking at signing him in the next transfer window.
