United look to add more signings

Having finally sealed the transfer of Aaron Wan-Bissaka from Crystal Palace to add to the earlier acquisition of Daniel James from Swansea, Manchester United are now turning their attention to their other summer targets.

Top of their immediate shopping list are midfielders Sean Longstaff and Bruno Fernandes, and they are confident that they can get both without serious competition for either of them.

Longstaff is one for the future – the 21-year old, who broke through at Newcastle United last season is regarded as a potential long-term successor to Michael Carrick, and represents the infusion of young, home-grown talent, that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer wants to introduce into his squad.

. Fernandes, the Sporting Lisbon captain, is a more immediate solution to United’s midfield issues. The 24-year old has been on the Old Trafford radar since the end of last season. A free-scoring midfielder, he will help plug the gap left by the departed Marouane Fellaini and Ander Herrera.
