United discover Ighalo price

Manchester United are prepared to sign striker Odion Ighalo on a permanent deal after discovering how much they will have to pay for him.

The 30 year old striker joined United on transfer deadline day from Chinese Super League side Shanghai Shenhua on a short-term loan. That is due to expire at the end of May, a date which, as things currently stand, could be well before the end of the season with everything paused because of the coronavirus.

In his brief time, though, at Old Trafford, Ighalo has made a favourable impression, scoring 4 goals in 8 appearances. And, although initially bought as back-up with Marcus Rashford injured, and Anthony martial the only senior striker at the club, he has done enough to convince United it is worth paying the £15 million that Shanghai want to make his stay in Manchester permanent.

Shanghai waived the usual loan fee for Ighalo in exchange for the Premier League club picking up half of his £300,000 a week wages.
