Raheem Sterling will remain with Arsenal for the rest of the season.

Signed by the Gunners on a season long loan from Chelsea on transfer deadline day in the summer, he has struggled to make an impression at the Emirates.

That had led to speculation that they would send him back to Chelsea in January, especially as that would allow Arsenal to make another loan signing from a Premier League club.

Sterling picked up a knee injury ahead of the Crystal Palace game, and it is not clear how long he will be out, unfortunate timing as it coincided with Bukayo Saka picking up a hamstring injury that is set to mean many weeks on the sidelines for him.

Despite that Sterling still believes that he has a role to play under Mikel Arteta, and Chelsea, who continue to subsidise a large part of his wages, have no intention of recalling him anyway.
