Question marks over Chelsea’s left-back future

Whilst Ben Chilwell is widely expected to leave Chelsea this month, he is not the only left-back at the club with question marks over his future.

Portuguese international Renato Veiga was signed from Swiss club FC Basel last summer, but, although he has played 17 times for Chelsea in all competitions this season, most of those appearances have been in cups.  He has only appeared in the Premier League seven times, and has just one start to his name.

Whilst he has been an ever-present in the Europa Conference League for them, with the knockout phase of that competition not set to start until March, he is unlikely to see much action over the next few months.

Malo Gusto could provide cover on that side if regular marc Cucurella was unavailable for any reason, so that might open up the possibility of a loan move for the 21 year-old before the window closes.
