Crystal Palace are hoping to be able to sign Mykhailo Mudryk on loan in January.
The Ukrainian international was signed from Shakhtar Donetsk in 2023 for an initial fee of ₤65 million, but he has struggled to justify that transfer fee, and, this season, most of his appearances have either been off the bench or in Cup competitions.
And with Chelsea now having several options ahead of him in wide positions, his career appears to have stalled.
Palace have lacked a wide player who can beat players since Wilfried Zaha left for Galatasaray and Turkey nearly 18 months ago, and a loan spell may benefit both parties.
It would enable Mudryk to stay in London, in an environment that he already knows, and would offer him more regular first-team football than he is currently likely too get under Enzo Maresca.
Hopefully, it may also transform Mudryk into a player better able to challenge for a first-team place when he does return to Stamford Bridge.
