Arsenal may be considering replacing one Brazilian as Sporting Director with another.
There was widespread surprise when it was announced Edu was leaving the club – he has been linked wider a wider role with the group of teams owned by Evangelos Marinakis.
Edu has already left the club and has been placed on gardening leave, whilst the Gunners begin the search for his replacement.
Already a number of names have been linked with the job, with prominent among them AS Monaco CEO Thiago Scurro.
The 43 year old replaced Paul Mithell at the Ligue 1 club in the summer of 2023, and the work he has done so far has impressed the Arsenal hierarchy.
The squad overhaul that he oversaw enabled Monaco to finish second in Ligue 1 last season behind PSG, with the Gunners coming into direct contact with him during transfer negotiations for Falorin Balogun.
Monaco are due to visit the Emirates in the Champions League next month, and it would be no surprised if the opportunity was used for further discussions with Scurro.
