Lampard under pressure at Chelsea

Frank Lampard’s honeymoon period as Chelsea manager is over, and the 41 year old will come under severe scrutiny if the club fail to qualify for the Champions League next season.

The backlash comes as the club’s Premier league campaign has faltered in recent weeks, and their place in the top four has come under threat, with a twelve point gap to their rivals reduced to a single point ahead of the visit of Tottenham to Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

The decline has coincided with a dip in form by some of the club’s youngsters, with the likes of Mason Mont, Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori struggling to replicate their early season performances.

At the same time, the club’s board are unhappy with Lampard’s treatment of record signing Kepa Arribalaga, and believe that the decision to play Willy Caballero in goal ahead of him will do little to improve his resale value if they decide to jettison him in the summer.

When he's not watching, listening, reading or downloading podcasts about football, he spend his time worrying about his beloved Arsenal.
