Nicolas Jackson has signed a new contract with Chelsea that will keep him at the club until 2033.
He was already on an eight year deal after signing from Villareal last summer.
The Senegalese international scored 17 goals in his debut season at Stamford Bridge in all competitions, and his fourteen in the Premier League made him Che;sea’s second highest scorer behind Cole Palmer in the league. He also provided five assists.
And he has already found the net twice this campaign, including their opener against Crystal Palace at the weekend.
Despite intense speculation linking them with the likes of Ivan Toney and Victor Osimhen in the transfer window, the contract renewal is a show of faith in Jackson, and he will hope to prosper further under the guidance of coach Enzo Maresca.
Meanwhile outsiders will wonder, as in the case of Palmer, about the thinking of handing a new deal to a player who was already on a long contract.
