Arsenal will be sending scouts to watch Manchester City’s Champions League clash with Sporting Lisbon next month.
And the main focus of their attention will be Sporting forward Victor Gyokeres who is now formly back in their sights.
He was one of the names mentioned during the summer as the Gunners looked to sign a central striker, but in the end they declined to pursue their interest in the former Coventry City striker.
However, given that they still lack anybody capable of scoring more than 20 goals a season, they have reignited their pursuit of him, although he will not come cheap, with suggestions that his release clause might be as high as ₤83 million.
Signing him might impact the way that the Gunners play, however, given that he is a more direct type of player than those already in the squad. However, it could be argued that the acquisition of Erling Haaland did not make Manchester City less effective.
