Fulham have made Arsenal midfielder Emile-Smith Rowe their main summer target and are looking to make an early move for him once the window opens.
The 23 year old has reached somewhat of a crossroads in his career. Although still dearly loved by the club’s fans, because of his Hale End academy roots, he has become a fringe figure under Mikel Arteta.
Last season he started just three of the 31 Premier League games that he was included in the squad for, and amassed just 345 minutes on the pitch in that time.
A year ago, he was in a similar position, but, at that time, the club were determined to keep him believing that he had the ability to recapture the form that forced him into the team in the first place and earned him England call-ups.
12 months down the line, though, there seems to be an increasing acceptance on both sides that he needs to move for the longer good of his career.
