Chelsea’s hopes of resigning N’Golo Kanté have been dealt a blow with news that the French midfielder is set to join West Ham United instead.
Kanté spent seven seasons at Chelsea, making 269 first-team appearances, winning the Premier League, the FA Cup, the Champions League and the Club World Cup during his time in West London, although injuries impacted the latter stages of his time at Stamford Bridge.
Last summer, he joined the exodus to the Saudi Pro League, and signed for Al-Ittihad, but, after just one season in the Middle East, he is set to return to the Premier League.
It is reported that there is a willingness on all sides to get a deal done, with a fee of around ₤20 million being discussed, which is a reasonable price for player, who, although now 33, remains one of the best in his position in Europe.
