Portuguese striker João Felix has joined AC Milan on loan for the rest of the season, just months after moving to Chelsea in a permanent deal from Atlético Madrid that was worth ₤47 million.

He has scored 7 goals in 20 appearances, but, with most of his starts coming in cup competitions, he was deemed surplus to requirements for the rest of the campaign.

At one stage Aston Villa were also interested in signing him, before they pivoted and agreed the loan signing of Marcus Rashford from Manchester United.

Once the most expensive teenager in the world when he was signed from Benfica by Atlético, Felix has struggled to ever justify that price tag, and was unhappy with his lack of regular game time under Enzo Maresca.

He is still only 25 years old, so time is still on his side to prove that he belongs at one of the elite clubs in Europe.
