Fan favourite set for Emirates departure

With Arsenal set for a major clear-out of fringe players this summer, one who fans will be loathe to see go is Emile Smith-Rowe.

An academy graduate and contemporary team of Bukayo Saka, Smith Rowe is credited with helping to save Arteta’s job, instilling some creativity into the side at a time when the side was struggling.

However, injuries and a loss of form have taken their toll, and he has found himself increasingly marginalised in the title run-in.

He has made just 18 appearances in all competitions this season, and has not found the net once. Now he finds himself surplus to requirements at the Emirates.

The Gunners have previously rejected several bids from Aston Villa for the player, and they are one of the clubs who could be interested in him again.

Smith-Rowe will be hoping that the chance so play regular first-team football again will help revive his England career. He has three senior international caps. But, whilst Saka will be in the heart of the action for England at the Euros, Smith-Rowe will be watching the tournament on the television.
