Chelsea midfielder Kieran Dewsbury-Hall is close to moving to Everton in a deal worth around £28m, once add-ins and bonuses are included.
And it also means Chelsea will recoup most of the money Chelsea paid Leicester City for the 26-year old a year ago, who followed Enzo Marssca to Stamford Bridge.
Dewsbury-Hall was initially reluctant to make the move, preferring to fight for his first-team place in West London, but such is the competition for places under Maresca now, he was given few guarantees of any meaningful game time next season.
Personal terms now need to be finalised and he still has to pass a medical.
Dewsbury-Hall played only a bit part during his time in West London, but he leaves with two winners’ medals having been part of the squads that won both the Europa Conference League and the Club World Cup.
Having signed defender Jorrel Hato from Ajax, Chelsea’s summer signings have soared above £200 million and they now need to sell some players in order to comply with a UEFA imposed requirement to finish with a positive balance on their transfer dealings.
