Chelsea are to give Graham Potter time to build a winning team after sanctioning a spend of over £300 million in the transfer window.
They recognise that it is unrealistic to expect instant results and that it may time to mould a winning team, especially with so many new faces which will need to be integrated.
In their first match since the window closed at home to Fulham on Friday goalless , they could only manage a goalless draw.
Chelsea already face an uphill struggle to qualify for next season Champions League – unless they actually win it- whilst the leaders Arsenal and Manchester City are probably out of sight already.
The spending has not stopped either, with RB Leipzig forward Christopher Nkonku having already agreed to join the club in the summer.
Meanwhile Potter has spoken of the need to have a balanced squad, and the close season could signal the start of a major clear-out at Stamford Bridge, which might help recoup some of the money spent.
