Chelsea target can leave Bundesliga side

Bayer Leverkusen have agreed that midfielder Kai Havertz can leave the Bundesliga side this summer.

And that could start the beginning of a bidding war, with both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich interested in signing the German international, as well as Chelsea who have been heavily linked with a move for him.

And it is the West London side who would appear to have the edge. Real are cash-strapped and may not be able to afford any big money transfers this summer, whilst Bayern, having just forked out to buy Leroy Sané from Manchester City, would prefer to wait until next summer to make their move for Havertz.

Chelsea though do not appear to have any such impediments – they have already added Hakim Ziyech and Timo Werner to their squad for next season, and they continue to be linked with more additions like Declan Rice and Ben Chilwell.

Havertx is valued up to £90 million by Leverkusen, having played what is probably his last game for the club in their German Cup final defeat to Bayern Munich last weekend.
