Chelsea are confident that they will win the race to sign former player Marc Guéhi in the summer.
The academy graduate had left Chelsea in the summer of 2021 in a bid to secure regular first-team football, and, at Palace, he had developed into a regular England international.
Last summer, Newcastle made several attempts to buy him, but were unable to match the South London club’s valuation of him.
More recently, Tottenham bid ₤70 million for him in the Janusray transfer window, but that offer too was rebuffed.
Tottenham are expected to try again to sign him in the summer, but Chelsea have a long-standing interest in bringing him back to Stamford Bridge, and believe that they have more to offer the player in terms of financial package as well as the chance to realise his sporting ambitions. They are hoping to compete in the Champions League next season, whereas Tottenham will struggle to qualify for Europe at all.
