Chelsea’s policy of signing some of the best young talent from South America continues to bear fruit with the news that they have reached full agreement with Boca Juniors about Aaron Anselmino.

The 19 year old centre-back who is two footed had also been the subject of an offer from Manchester United but it is Chelsea who have won the race for him for a fee of ₤17 million plus various add-ons and performance related bonuses.

However, he will not be initially seen in a Chelsea shirt. That is because the plan is for him to return to Buenos Aires on loan until the end of the Argentine domestic season in January.

He has only made 10 senior appearances for Boca, but has already established himself as a local fan favourite.

Anselmino’s signing follows the arrival of another teenager at Stamford Bridge, the Brazilian Estavao, who was snapped up earlier in the window.
