Chelsea are looking to thin out their bomb squad, those players currently deemed surplus to requirement under Enzo Maresca.
Among those identified for departure this summer are João Felix who is being linked with a return to his boyhood club Benfica, although the two clubs are currently some way apart when it comes to valuation of the player. And Trevoh Chalobah, despite his role in Chelsea’s Club World Cup triumph, is another with a cloud hanging over his future.
Ben Chilwell is another in the same position. He spent the second half of last season on loan at Crystal Palace, and has attracted interest from Everton, but his wages of ₤190,000 aweek remain sticking point.
Raheem Sterling, Armando Broja, Axel Disasi and Lesley Ugochukwu are among these others that Chelsea need to find homes for before the transfer window closes at the start of September.
