Arsenal are close to agreeing a new contract with 18-year old Ethan Nwaneri, and he is set to join his close friend Myles Lewis-Skelly in committing his immediate future to the club.
And that will disappoint his multiple suitors including Borussia Dortmund in Germany and Premier League rivals Manchester City and Chelsea.
Talks have been in progress for some time, and when stories began to appear in the media suggesting Nwaneri was seeking guarantees about game time under Mikel Arteta, some supporters feared the worst.
And it is still not clear where he might feature in the coming campaign. Although he started a number of games on the right wing, that was due to the injury of Bukayo Saka. Nwaneri is considered more of an attacking midfielder, similar to Matin Ødegaard.
Having helped England win the under-21 championship again, Nwaneris is currently on holiday, but is expected to join the Arsenal squad at some stage during their tour of the Far East.
