Chelsea are leading the race to sign Manchester United Kobbie Mainoo.
The 19 year old is halfway through his current deal at Old Trafford which runs until 2017, and, although United have opened talks about extending his contract, they have reached a stalemate, with Mainoo unhappy with their initial offer.
He is reported to be looking for ₤200,000 a week, which he believes reflects his status as a first-team regular, However, with INEOS trying to trim the wage bill at United, the club is unwilling to match those terms.
Mainoo is also concerned about the direction that his boyhood club is taking, and wants to join a club that will be regular contenders for the title, and will regularly appear in the Champions League.
Chelsea are prepared to meet his salary demands, and believe that they are well-placed to offer him the chance to realise his sporting ambitions as well.
