Despite a record summer transfer spend of over ₤260 million, Arsenal are not content to sit on their laurels.
Instead, Mikel Arteta is likely to be handed a transfer budget that could be as much as ₤100 million to spend in January as he looks to further strengthen a squad that is chasing its first Premier League title in more than two decades.
Three players are on their shopping list, all regarded as medium to long-term prospects, Ayyoub Bouaddi who plays for Lille, Bayern Munich’s Lennart Karl, and Marc Casado of Barcelona. All have already been scouted, and identified as having the ability and the character to adapt to their style and philosophy of football, with the emphasis on possession and pressing.
Bouaddi and Karl are still both teenagers, and, whilst not immediate priorities, would fit the Gunners strategy of bringing in promising youngsters and developing them to the point they are ready to make a significant contribution to the squad.
