Arsenal reject improved offer for striker

Arsenal have turned down an improved offer from French club Marseille for striker Eddie Nketiah.

The new offer values the 25 year old at ₤17 million, but the Premier League club believe that he is worth considerably more than that, and the player himself is keen to remain in England.

That is despite his continuance at the Emirates remaining a matter of conjecture. Nketiah fell dwon the pecking order under Mikel Arteta towards the end of last season, and has not found the net once in any of their pre-season games.

And should the Gunners decide to bring in another striker before the transfer window closes, then his first-team opportunities next season are likely to be even more limited.

Marseille are now managed by former Brighton boss Roberto de Zerbi, who has already signed Mason Greenwood from Manchester United, and is looking to strengthen his squad still further.
