Arsenal are closely monitoring the situation of Alexander Isak at Newcastle United after talks about a new deal for the Swedish striker at St. James Park hit a brick wall.
Last season he became the first player to score more than 20 goals or more for Newcastle since the days of Alan Shearer more than 20 years ago.
He is currently sidelined with a broken toe and has had more than his fair share of injury problems in his time in the North-East.
Nevertheless, Newcastle regard him as one of their biggest assets, but attempts to tire him down to a new deal have stalled over his demands that he become the top earner at the club.
He also wants a release clause inserted in any new contract he signs, something that Newcastle do not want to agree to as it sets a precedent.
He still has three years left on his current contract with Newcastle, so Arsenal know there is still work to do to get any transfer over the line.
