Arsenal are considering making a move for Crystal Palace midfielder Adam Wharton, who is also on the radar of Manchester City and Liverpool.
Mikel Arteta is keen to strengthen his options in midfield, with Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad also a target. Wharton plays in a similar style to the Spanish international, and, given that Zubimendi is wanted by clubs across Europe, Wharton may be more obtainable.
Wharton was only signed by the South London club in January of this year, bought from Bristol City for a fee of ₤18 million, but he has already forced his way into the England team.
He was part of the squad that went to the Euros in the summer, but he did not actually get any game-time.
Given that he still has four and a half years left on his contract, Palace will be expecting a substantial premium over what they originally paid for him.
