Arsenal are expecting a quiet January in terms of transfer business.

Having spent over ₤260 million in the summer, PSR concerns mean that they have little headroom to make further acquisitions.

And whilst they expect enquiries to be made about Gabriel Jesus, the Brazilian striker is now fit again, and with the club chasing silverware on several fronts, Mikel Arteta wants to have as big a squad available as possible for the business end of the season.

Speculation that Myles Lewis-Skelly would be allowed to leave to further his chances of playing for England at the World Cup also seems wide of the mark. Instead he will have to seize opportunities when they present themselves at the Emirates.

The only player who might in line for a loan move would be fellow Hale-End graduate Ethan Nwaneri. He signed a new long-term contract with the club in the summer, but since then has struggled for regular first-team minutes.
