Karl Hein has joined Bundesliga side Werder Bremen on loan for the season.
The Estonian international spent the last campaign on loan in Spain with Real Valladolid and, although he then returned to the Emirates this summer, his long-term future appears to lie away from North London as he looks for regular first-team football.
And Bundesliga side Werder Bremen emerged as one of the favourites to sign the 22-year-old after selling first-choice goalkeeper Michael Zetterer to Eintracht Frankfurt.
However, they faced competition. Turkish Super Lig outfit Rizespor had already opened talks with Arsenal over a possible deal, while Scottish giants Rangers were also monitoring the situation. Rangers were seeking competition for Jack Butland, and Hein was viewed as a strong candidate thanks to his maturity and international experience.
Hein signed a new contract with Arsenal last summer..
