Anyone who thought that acquiring Eberechi Eze marked the conclusion of Arsenal’s summer transfer business may have to think again.
Now comes news that they hope to sign Bayer Leverkusen defender Piero Hincapié.
The Gunners want to sign a left-sided defender and believe that Ecuador international Hincapié is a strong candidate. The 23-year-old has a £52 million release clause and, having been made aware of Arsenal’s interest, is keen to leave the Bundesliga club before the transfer window closes.
However, before any deal can be completed, Arsenal may have to sell some players first to help balance their books. Jakub Kiwior, Fabio Vieira, Reiss Nelson, and Oleksandr Zinchenko have all been linked with moves away in the coming days.
Since joining the club in 2021, Hincapié has made 166 appearances for Leverkusen and was part of the team that won the league and cup double under Xabi Alonso in the 2023–2024 season.
