Although transfer rumours linking Arsenal with a move for Real Madrid’s Brazilian forward Rodrygo are rife at present, they are likely to be entirely spurious.
It is known that the Brazilian wants to leave the Bernabeu, unhappy that he has been asked to play out of position to accommodate Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Junior, both of whom play on the left which is where he wants to play. And he is also tired of constantly being eclipsed by his two more high profile rivals.
However, like many Spanish-based players, he has a very high release clause which normally needs to be paid in one go, and that would consume a large part of the Gunners transfer budget.
And his salary demands would also upset the wage structure at the Emirates.
Given that he was anonymous in the two Champions League quarter-final ties between the two clubs, many Arsenal fans would doubt if he were worth the investment anyway.
