Among all the upheaval at Stamford Bridge in the summer, one player who remained with the club was midfielder Carney Chukwuemaka.
The 20 year old was signed from Aston Villa two years ago, and was described by Todd Boehly at the time as “one of the most exciting young players in Europe.
But he has only made 28 appearances in all competitions to date, most of those from the bench, with only one of those coming this season, and that was in the Europa Conference League.
However, with his prospects for game time under Enzo Maresca the club are trying to find a solution for him, with a January transfer, either on loan or permanently, now a distinct possibility.
Chelsea rejected approaches for him during the most recent transfer window because they feared he would not play enough, wherever he ended up.
Once again it illustrates the difficulty even the best have of first-team football at a club where there are so many players scrapping for every place.
