Chelsea forward David Daro Fofana has joined Greek side AEK Athens on loan for the rest of the season.

The deal includes an option to buy for ₤17 million, although that is not mandatory and will depend on how Fofana performs.

The 21 year old Ivorian has previously had loan spells with Union Berlin in the Bundesliga and Burnley in the Premier League in the second half of last season.

He still has four years left on his current contract at Stamford bridge, but having not played a single minute in pre-season under Enzo Maresca, he seemed destined to become a member of their bomb squad, until the interest from the Greek side crystallised.

Originally signed from Norwegian side Molde in 2023, Fofana has mase four Premier League appearances for Chelsea, but never managed to score for them.
