Scottish international Kieran Tierney’s career as an Arsenal player appears to be over.
His list was missed out completely from the squad list printed in the programme for the Gunners pre-season friendly at the Emirates with German champions Bayer Leverkusen.
It is not normal practice to exclude players who remain part of the first-team squad, even if they are injured.
Tierney spent last season on loan in Spain with Real Sociedad, and there has been spculation he could be about to make the move permanent.
He has also been linked with a move back to Scotland and his former club Celtic.
Tierney’s prospects of first-team football under Mikel Arteta have receded even further since the signing of the Italian Riccardo Califiori, and with Lewis Miles-Skelly also getting minutes in pre-season, in addition to Oleksandr Zinchenko and Takehiro Tomiyasu, Arsenal now appear well covered in Tierney’s position.
