Chelsea are once again interested in signing striker Elye Wahi who plays in France in Ligue 1.

They attempted to sign him last summer when he was at Montpellier, and got as far as submitting a ₤24 million bid for him.

That, though, was rejected, and instead he opted to join Lens last August.

He enjoyed a reasonable first season in Northern France, scoring 12 goals in all competitions, although, having paid a club record fee of ₤30 million for him, Lens might have hoped for more.

Despite that, Chelsea have continued to monitor him, and they have now made enquiries with Lens about his potential availability and what price they put on the player.

Having signed a five year contract he signed for them, Lens would at least to want what they paid for him back.

There are suggestions, though, that Chelsea may face competition, with at least one other major European club monitoring his situation.
