Aston Villa have been told by Manchester United to forget any plans that they might have to sign Axel Tuanzebe on a permanent basis.
The England under-21 international initially joined Villa on loan in January 2018, but injuries restricted him to just five appearances, before he re-signed for Villa in another loan move for last season. That proved altogether more successful and he formed a potent defensive partnership with Tyrone Mings, helping the Midlands club to regain their Premier League status, via triumph in the Championship play-offs.
Whilst Villa, who are preparing for life back in the top flight after a three year absence, would dearly like to be able to sign Tuanzebe to a long-term deal, he is likely to stay at United for the summer, whilst Ole Gunnar Solskjaer runs the rule over him, and he could feature heavily in United’s pre-season friendly fixtures in Australia, China and Singapore.
