Manchester United want to extend the contract of striker Edison Cavani.
The Uruguayan international joined on transfer deadline day initially on a one-year deal, but with the option for a further year.
And now the Premier League club have already seen enough to want to exercise that option.
The 33-year-old had a difficult start to his career at Old Trafford as he was forced to self-isolate for a fortnight after arriving from France after leaving PSG when his deal expired there. He also had to serve a short ban after some ill-judged social media comments. He also had to build-up his match fitness.
Nonetheless, despite the fact that he has mainly been used off the bench – he has started just two Premier League games so far – Cavani has still managed to score three goals in eight appearances, and is expected to make a major contribution over the rest of the season.
