Tottenham consider Lemar move

Tottenham Hotspur are considering making a move for out of favour Atlético Madrid midfielder Thomas Lemar.

The Frenchman was regarded as one of the hottest prospects in European football two years ago when he moved to the Spanish capital from Monaco in a £53 million deal, with a number of clubs, including Tottenham’s North London  rivals, Arsenal, chasing his signature.

However, he has made little impression during his time with the La Liga side, and now, 18 months later, Atlético are looking to get rid of a player who has made 15 appearances for him this season, but mostly as a substitute.

Now the player has been offered to Spurs, initially on loan, with an option to buy included in the deal. However, the sums reported, a loan fee of £5 million, and the buy-option of £51 million, may be too pricey for a player whose stock has fallen since he left Ligue 1.
