Terry linked with Chelsea return

John Terry is set for a surprise return to Chelsea.

The former club captain will take up a part-time role coaching their academy players whilst he continues his search for a managerial appointment.

The 41-year-old was last involved in football as Aston Villa where he was assistant to Dean Smith, a post he quit at the start of this season to pursue his managerial ambitions.

However, with no opportunities immediately forthcoming in that department, he will return to the club, at least on a short-term basis, where he enjoyed a 19-year playing career, becoming the most successful captain in the history of the club, leading them to five Premier League titles, four FA Cups, three League Cups, the Champions League, and also UEFA Cup success.

His return to West London has been facilitated by Petr Cech, Chelsea’s technical and performance advisor, with whom he remains close friends.
