Tottenham have agreed to break their transfer record to sign Tanguy Ndombélé from Lyon.
That is according to Sky Sports who report that a £65 million fee has been agreed as well as five year deal, and that the player is set to have a medical within the next few days.
Lyon had been refusing to sell the player until they lined-up a suitable replacement, but on Tuesday they announced the signing of Brazilian Jean Lucas from Flamengo, clearing the way for the deal with Spurs to be finalised.
The amount to be paid for paid for Ndombélé eclipses by some distance the £42 million that Tottenham paid Ajax for Davinson Sánchez two years ago, their previous club record, and indicates that after not signing a single signing for the past two transfer windows, that the club are prepared to spend some of the windfall they accrued by reaching the Champions League final.
