Tottenham players have been left unhappy after remarks made by manager Mauricio Pochettino that a number of them had “different agendas”.
He was commentating after his club’s shock defeat to Colchester United in the Carabao Cup last week, partly blaming the loss and the club’s mixed start to the season on dressing-room uncertainty and discontent. That followed a summer transfer window which saw a number of key players such as Christian Eriksen, Danny Rose, Jan Vertonghen, and Toby Alderweireld all linked with moves away from the club, only to end-up staying.
However, his comments have not gone down well, with some believing that he is the one with the agenda, and that he is planning to leave Spurs at the first opportunity, with Manchester United believed to be his preferred option.
An unnamed source said: They are not impressed with him at all and what he said has not helped at all.”
Saturday’s 2 – 1 home win over Southampton in the Premier League may paper over the cracks for now, but Tottenham does not seem a united camp at the moment.
