Smith-Rowe set for loan spell

Highly-rated Arsenal teenager Emile Smith-Rowe is set for a loan move to a Championship club for the rest of the season.

Smith-Rowe first made his name with a couple of eye catching performances for the Gunners in the group stages of the Europa League under Unai Emery last season, earning him a loan move to Bundesliga side RB Leipzig last January.

Unfortunately, injuries meant that he had virtually no playing time in Germany, and again hampered his start to this season. He made his Premier League debut in interim manager Freddie Ljundberg’s last match in charge of the club, away at Everton, before Christmas, but has been omitted from new manager Mikel Arteta’s last two squads, against Manchester United, and Leeds United in the FA Cup.

Now it is thought best for his development if he can go to a Championship club where he can get regular first-team football for the rest of the season.
