The race to sign Antonio Rüdiger is heating-up, with two more clubs throwing their hat in the ring to show their interest in signing the German defender.

He is in the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge, and, although Chelsea would like to retain his services, they face an uphill battle to convince him to stay, especially after discussions over a  new deal broke down, with the two sides said to be far apart.

Rüdiger is looking for £200,000 a week, whereas the figure that Chelsea proposed was described as derisory by his camp.

Already there is a queue of clubs circling in the hope of attracting him to join them, including Bayern Munich, Real Madrid, and Juventus,

But they have now been joined by Manchester City and Tottenham, with suggestions that representatives of the defender have already held preliminary talks with both of Chelsea’s Premier League rivals.

The interest of City will alarm Chelsea in particular as it is widely assumed, they could meet his wage demands.
