Liam Rosenior is the favourite to succeed Enzo Maresca as Chelsea head coach.
The Italian left Stamford Bridge after 18 months in charge, after a disappointing run of results in December, and evidence of a breakdown of relations between him and the club;s owners.
41-year old Rosenior, who has previously managed Hull City in the Championship, is currently head coach at Strasbourg in Ligue 1, and is Chelsea’s sister club, as both fall under the ownership of BlueCo.
That puts him in a strong position to understand the role he will be expected to perform at Chelsea and also the limitations on it, something that Maresca increasingly began to chafe against.
No appointment, though, will be made before Chelsea’s next match which is away to Manchester City in the Premier League. Instead under-21 head coach Calum McFarlane will have temporary charge of the team for that match.
