One of the most protracted transfers of the summer so far is set to be completed on Monday night when Wayne Rooney complete his free transfer to DC United.
That is according to The Daily Mail who report that the move will finally be completed on Monday night after the player was granted a work permit and visa.
Following weeks of intense negotiation involving his agent and the American club, Rooney is ready to agree to a deal until the end of 2020 worth £12.5 million.
If the deal goes through, Rooney is likely to make his debut for his new club against the Vancouver Whitecaps on July 14th, when DC United will unveil their new Audi Field Stadium, which has a capacity of 20,000 people, for the first time.
Everton will receive no fee for Rooney; however, with his departure, they will shave £150,000 of their weekly wage bill which can be used to reinvest in the squad.
